My job, the role of a nutritional therapist is not about selling you the next big thing in the trillion dollar world of health and wellness. Instead, it’s a tailored approach to help you achieve your health goals while you enjoy the foods you love and your morning coffee

So, what exactly does a nutritional therapist do, and why might you need one? Let’s find out…….

What Nutritional Therapy isn’t

Before we get started, let me tell you what nutritional therapy isn’t!

It’s not a selfish, forcing you to give up your favourite coffee or live on a diet of magnesium and protein powder.

Nor is it about eliminating the joys of life, like pizza and pasta, in the name of health.

Its not about being a diet dictator, supplement sellers, or broccoli enthusiasts who’ll force you to eat like a rabbit for the rest of your (grim) days. Nope, I won’t make you give up your beloved coffee or turn your kitchen into a supplement dispensary.

According to the British Association of Nutrition & Lifestyle Medicine, nutritional therapy is defined as “the application of nutrition and lifestyle medicine sciences in the promotion of health, peak performance, and individual care.”

Sounds grand, but what does it actually mean for you?

it means you’re at the heart of everything I do. I won’t spill your health secrets or give generic advice. Nope, I’ll tailor a plan just for you, and you alone. And everything I recommend is backed by science, so no more wondering if you’re being sold gold packaged, influencer endorsed BS.

So what do I actually do, I hear you ask?

I put together your health jigsaw starting from when you came onto this wild, wonderful planet till the very minute you’re on the first zoom call with me. I’ll identify triggers and drivers; that is what’s kicked off you feeling crappy (official term there!) and what’s keep it going – there’s usually some penny dropping moments here where you’ll start to understand the why behind your symptoms.

Then the fun begins. I won’t hand you a strict meal plan and set you off on a daily broccoli scavenger hunt. Instead I craft a nutrition protocol tailored just for you that not only breaks your big goal into small manageable steps; I also explain exactly why I’m making these recommendations. Because you need that knowledge and understanding to cut through all the nutrition noise so that you learn to tune into your body and the feedback it’s giving you.

You’ll know what you need to eat for you to feel fit, focused and fabulous whether you’re post partum, peri menopausal or a combination of both. I’ll filter through the 205 million eating for energy recipes and link you up with the best sources that don’t require golden milk from a cow hiding in the Scottish Highlands and 5 hours of your bedtime wrangling time.

I’ve been in your (pointy) shoes.

Tired. The kind that no amount of sleep seems to lift.

Hungry. Thinking I’m eating healthily cos I’m eating more lettuce (hold the dressing) and less bread.

Instead of being fuelled by Cadbury’s and double shot skinny latte’s with 2 sugars; I’m fuelled by the food I eat, how I move my body, my response to the BIG and small stressors in my life and the knowing that the only thing I can control is myself.

It’s not boring and restrictive. It’s fun and freedom and I want it for you too.
